Hołowczyc strikes back

Krzysztof Hołowczyc and Łukasz Kurzeja (MINI ALL4 Racing) are still in fight in Columna Medica Baja Poland and try to make pressure on the leader of the event Nasser Al-Atiiyah (Toyota Hilux Overdrive). The Polish duo was fastest during Sunday’s morning stages decreasing the time loss to the leader of the FIA World Cup in Cross Country Rallies to 90 seconds.

Interestingly enough, during the first passage of Lubieszyn stage Hołowczyc and Kurzeja managed to be faster than Al-Attiyah by 42 seconds. A very good performance was shown by Erik Van Loon (MINI ALL4 Racing) who set the fastest time overtaking the veteran of the FIA World Rally Championship Xavi Pons (Ford Ranger).

During the first passage of Dobra stage the French driver Mathieu Serradori rolled his buggy MCM Original, lost over 55 minutes and now is out of top ten. Thanks to his mishap Jakub Przygoński and Tom Colsoul (MINI ALL4 Racing) were promoted to 4th position.

After the visit in a service park located in Szczecin’s Łasztownia island, all crews competing in Columna Medica Baja Poland will tackle the second loop of stages containing Dobra (30,78 km) test and a 17-kilometer Lubieszyn stage. The winner of the event should be known at around 14.00.

Comments after Sunday’s first loop:

Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Hilux Overdrive): - Today it is very difficult and technical, but my lead is quite solid, so I didn’t have to take the unnecessary risk. Now I know how to drive, so we should be faster during the second leg.

Krzysztof Hołowczyc (MINI ALL4 Racing): - We are driving as fast as we can and maybe we will be able to chase Nasser. It all went according to our plan, no adventures.

Marek Dąbrowski (Toyota Hilux Overdrive): - I couldn’t find the rhythm this morning, but the second stage was already better.

Jakub Przygoński (MINI ALL4 Racing): - It was a very technical stage, difficult to avoid mistakes. Each moment of thinking how to drive cost us precious seconds.

Erik van Loon (MINI ALL4 Racing): - On first special stage we missed the road twice, I think it was a problem with the roadbook. Without this adventure, we could have been in the top 3 this morning.

Miroslav Zapletal (H3 EVO VII): - Just after the beginning of second stage we were left without brakes, so there was no chance for a proper result.

Martin Prokop (Ford F150 Raptor): - It was really tough, completely different stage than yesterday, which wasn’t positive for us. More than that, we had some technical issues with the car, so I can’t say I am particularly happy.

Tomas Ourednicek (H3 EVO I): - I really liked it. I remember from last year that the road was damaged, but now it’s almost perfect. After yesterday we have absolutely no chance for a good result, so I am trying to enjoy the ride as much as possible.

Michał Małuszyński (Toyota Hilux Overdrive): - On first special stage we had to reverse, as we made a little mistake on one corner, but the fun is amazing. We are really happy to be here.

Marcin Łukaszewski (BMW GPR Series 1): - During the morning special stage two cars rolled, while the second stage was really tight. It is not easy.
