Familiar faces in new roles

This year's edition of the LOTTO Baja Poland will be a great opportunity for the fans to see how well some established figures from the world of motor sport perform in new roles.

Jakub Przygoński will ditch his usual two wheels in favour of four for the first time in a cross-country rally. A quad rider Łukasz Łaskawiec will compete in a car (as a co-driver) and finally, well-known from rallying, Aron Domżała will make his first cross-country appearance in front of his home crowd.

– It will be something completely new to me. I will drive behind the wheel of a MINI All4Racing with Andy Schulz alongside me. An experienced co-driver surely will help me a lot. Before I was the one who decides about everything, now I need to learn how to listen – said the 30-year-old during a pre-event press conference held in Warsaw.

Since 2009 Przygoński has been representing the Orlen Team in the Dakar Rally. His best result to date remains sixth place in 2014. However, he's no stranger to cars. He's been an active competitor on a Polish drifting scene for a number of years now. Recently he became known to a wider audience thanks to a clip where his Toyota GT86 takes on a helicopter piloted by a famous base jumper Felix Baumgartner.

Third rider of the 2011 Dakar Rally in the quad category, Łukasz Łaskawiec, will compete as a co-driver alongside Andrzej Miklaszewski in a T3.2-category Polaris RZR 1000. The duo will take part in the FIA Central European Zone Cross-Country Championship. It will be my first LOTTO Baja Poland. I'm no stranger to navigation, because on a quad I navigate myself. Here I will only talk, without driving the vehicle. I've already competed as a co-driver once in the T1 category. However, it will be my first start in lightweight vehicle, so it's going to be something new. The speeds should be lower. Anyway I'm not concerned. I already know a little bit about the military ground [that the rally will be held on] – said Łaskawiec, who still hopes to be back on a quad in the future. We keep trying to raise founds to compete on a quad again. It looks like we're going to take part in the European Championship next year. We will fight for the budget to continue doing what I'm best at he summed up.

Aron Domżała, well-known mainly for his efforts in the JWRC series has fallen in love with baja-style of racing. Last month I took part in Baja Aragón in Spain. LOTTO Baja Poland will be my second event of this type – said the Warsaw native. However the 26-year-old remained enigmatic about his future in the sport. I'm having a great time here and surely I will take part in some more cross-country rallies he added. Domżała and his co-driver Szymon Gospodarczyk, similarly to the Miklaszewski/Łaskawiec duo, will use a T3.2-category Polaris RZR 1000, however they will be classified in the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies.
